Which filing do you need?
Personal tax returns
We prepare personal T1 returns for people with employment, pension and other income. Tell us about investments, rental income, property sales or foreign income when you enquire; those details can change the records and work required. If several years are unfiled, list the years and mention any CRA letters.
Contractor and self-employed income
If you operate an unincorporated business, your personal return generally includes reporting its income and expenses. For business or professional activity, this commonly involves Form T2125. The CRA explains reporting business income and expenses.
We prepare self-employed returns from the information and supporting records you provide. Bookkeeping to organize transactions or reconstruct missing records is separate work. If you also have a job, include your employment slips so both sources are considered together.
Incorporated businesses
A corporation's T2 is separate from its owner's personal return. Before quoting, we need the year-end, last filed year and condition of the books. The active T2 starting price assumes you provide financial statements; statements that still need preparing are quoted separately.
Contractor records: more than the amount deposited
Gather invoices or platform statements showing income and fees, together with bank records and expense receipts. A deposit may reflect income after a platform has deducted charges. Include the statement that explains the difference so we can review the figures rather than relying on deposits alone.
For vehicle costs, bring expense records and a record of business use. For phone, internet or workspace costs shared with personal use, identify the business portion for review. We assess what the records support; an expense is not automatically deductible because it relates loosely to your work.
Tell us whether you have a GST/HST account and which returns have been filed. We agree the work and fee for GST/HST services separately from income tax preparation. The CRA's record-keeping guidance explains why source documents matter.
Preparing a corporation's file
For corporate tax preparation, gather the previous T2 and financial statements, current year-end statements, bank and loan records, and any CRA correspondence. Also identify assets bought or sold, shareholder transactions, and payroll or GST/HST filings that apply.
If you only have bank statements or a partly completed accounting file, say so. We can review the bookkeeping needed before return preparation and provide a separate written quote. A T2 filing quote does not automatically include keeping the books, payroll or registry annual returns.
How much does filing cost?
Starting fees are $69.99 for a basic personal return and $149.99 for a self-employed return. Prices are in Canadian dollars, before HST, per return. Rental income, capital gains, foreign income, additional years and records needing work can increase the quote.
Corporate T2 returns start at $250 for a nil return, subject to assessing the corporation’s circumstances, and $499 for an active return (tax-document preparation and e-filing, including guidance on what information to provide; organizing unprepared financial records costs extra and is quoted before starting). Corporate prices are in Canadian dollars, before HST, per tax year and cover federal T2 preparation and electronic filing. Having no income does not by itself establish eligibility for the nil starting price.
Bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, payroll filings and the Ontario annual return are excluded from corporate starting fees and quoted separately in writing. Confirm other filings, including GST/HST or a federal corporate annual return, in your written quote. See the full corporate fee scope. Work outside the agreed scope is quoted in writing before it starts.
What happens after you contact us?
We first review your filing needs and explain which documents to provide. Once the work and fee are agreed, we prepare the work, ask about missing information and give you the return to review. After your approval and the required authorization, we electronically submit eligible returns.
You can complete this through our remote filing service or visit the office. We work in English, Urdu and Punjabi. Completion depends on the records, complexity and our availability; mention an approaching deadline at the start.
Personal documents and CRA letters
For a personal return, gather relevant income slips, your previous Notice of Assessment and receipts such as RRSP contributions, tuition, donations, medical costs or childcare expenses. Add rental, investment or other income records where relevant. Our documents checklist gives more detail.
If you receive a CRA notice about a return we prepared, we explain it at no charge. Responses to CRA letters, organizing supporting records, communicating with the CRA and audit assistance are additional paid work. We agree the scope, your authorization and a separate written quote before starting. We do not offer formal Notices of Objection. Include the response date in your enquiry so we can assess the work and availability.
